PLEASE NOTE: If you would like to switch hotels, do not cancel your current reservation. Check the Hotel Availability page for your dates, then email housing@sxsw.com to let us know which available hotel you'd like to move to.
How to make changes to an existing reservation:
- Reservations can be shortened with no penalty until 28 days before arrival.
- To access our Housing portal, click the Request for Change link located at the bottom of your reservation confirmation email.
- Alternatively, you can access the portal by logging into the SXSW Cart that was used to purchase your registration. Click your name in the bottom left corner, then select “Purchase History”.
- Once in the Housing portal, you will see your reservation on a dropdown menu. Click “Submit” to be directed to the Change Request form.
- On this page, you can make changes such as adjusting dates, adding roommates, changing your room type (dependent upon availability), updating your credit card details, and adding a special request.
- Follow the prompts to complete your change request.
- If you’re reducing nights, the date of your online request determines if any penalties or fees will be incurred. If you are making changes within 72 hours of your check-in, you must also call the hotel directly.

- To access our Housing portal, click the Request for Change link located at the bottom of your reservation confirmation email.
- Alternatively, you can access the portal by logging into the SXSW Cart that was used to purchase your registration. Click your name in the bottom left corner, then select “Purchase History”.
- Once in the Housing portal, you will see your reservation on a dropdown menu. Click “Submit” to be directed to the Change Request form.
- Select the red “Cancel Room” button in the top right corner, then follow the prompts to complete your cancellation.
- When canceling, the date of your online request determines if any penalties or fees will be incurred.
How to move to another hotel:
- If you currently have a reservation, and wish to move to a different hotel, you will not be able to make this change in our portal.
- Please email housing@sxsw.com to let us know which hotel you would like to move to, and we can assist you.
If you’re having difficulty making changes online, just email housing@sxsw.com or reply to your reservation confirmation email. Provide the full name on the reservation & details of the change you wish to make.
