Why do some hotels require a minimum stay?

Minimum Stay Requirement: Most of our hotel partners may require a 3-night minimum length of stay during the peak event dates. This is a contractual agreement with the hotel, and cannot be changed. If you only need to stay 1 or 2 nights, explore each hotel’s minimum by using the Hotel Comparison Chart provided on our Hotel Availability page.

If you have already made a reservation and need to shorten your stay: Please read your Reservation Agreement carefully, as your hotel may require a minimum length of stay. If your hotel cannot accommodate a shorter stay, DO NOT cancel your reservation. Simply use the Hotel Availability page to see what is currently available, then email housing@sxsw.com to request assistance with changing hotels.

Early Departure fee: After you’ve arrived and checked into your hotel, most hotels charge a penalty for checking-out before your scheduled departure date. Your hotel’s fee can be found in your Reservation Agreement. If you’re aware that your travel dates have changed, avoid this penalty by changing your check-out date at least 24 hours before checking into your hotel.

Please note: If your hotel requires a minimum stay, you will be responsible for all nights required per your Reservation Agreement.
