Recording my Showcase
If you wish to record, stream (not live), photograph or otherwise reproduce or distribute any audio, video or photographs from your showcase performance, you must follow the guidelines set out in the Event Recording Plan section of your Performance Agreement (Section 5).
In general:
- Artists are allowed one photographer or videographer with a handheld camera/camcorder.
- The photographer/videographer's name must be listed on the Artist Admin page, and the SXSW stage manager must be informed.
- The photographer/videographer must enter and leave the venue with the artist.
- Cameras cannot be left unattended or set up on stage.
- No additional camera support (tripods, monopods) or accessories (additional lighting) are permitted.
- Jibs, booms, or any equipment or supports that go over the heads of attendees is strictly prohibited.
- For an audio feed, artists must provide a compatible recording device and cabling and coordinate with the SXSW stage manager by February 21, 2026.
- Live streaming and any commercial use of recorded content is not permitted without a separate agreement with SXSW.
If your plans to record your showcase include more than a single person capturing content with a handheld device and/or an audio board feed pre-arranged and approved by a SXSW stage manager, you must fill out an Event Recording application at https://www.sxsw.com/event-recording-licenses by February 17, 2026. Do not consider your request approved until you receive formal, written notice from the Event Recording & Licensing department.
